SINGAPORE INCREASES TRAINS TO PICK UP HORDES OF TAYLOR SWIFT FANS

Singapore increases trains to pick up hordes of Taylor Swift fans

Leading multi-modal public transport operator SMRT has increased the frequency of trains at Stadium MRT station to bring tourists home safely during Taylor Swift’s six-night Eras Tour concert.

The increase of train frequency is expected to help shorten waiting times between arriving trains and prevent large crowds especially after the shows end with thousands of concertgoers heading home or to accommodation, the transport operator said in a statement.

Empty trains will be available in case of emergency.

Trains will be arriving more frequently so that tourists do not have to wait too long. Currently, trains are arriving at Stadium MRT station every two minutes.

“Our priority is ensuring that commuters get to the concert and go home safely when they travel in our network,” said President of SMRT Trains Lam Sheau Kai as cited by Channel News Asia.

For information about the last train timings, fans can look out for the signs placed near the faregate of Stadium MRT station, or search on website and SMRT’s Connect app.

On March 2, Taylor Swift’s first concert in the city state as part of her only stop in Southeast Asia attracted more than 50,000 fans.

The concert started at 7 p.m. and ended at 10:15 p.m. (local time). However, many fans left around 10 p.m. to avoid crowding.

Taylor Swift’s six-night The Eras Tour in Singapore will take place from March 2-4 and 7- 9.

Thousands of tourists from across the world have been descending on Singapore to watch the concerts despite expensive airfares and hotel rates.
